Ok I know it has been a few days since I posted. Hopefully I still have some followers, haha. Anyway to all Happy Thanksgiving. And for some exciting news for those who either haven’t made the Android jump yet. Or those wanting another Android phone like I did. You will find some wonderful deals at Best Buy tomorrow. Let me break it down for you. All these phones will be $99 or less.

Sprint HTC Hero
Samsung Moment (Sprint)
T-Mobile myTouch 3G
Motorola CLIQ (T-Mobile)
DROID Eris (Verizon)

The best part about it is that these phones don’t come with mail in rebates. This is all instant stuff baby.

Flurry says 250,000 Droids in first week

Ok as some may know, I have T-Mobile. you would think I wouldn’t care what other carries do. But, as any “Droidhead” will tell you, Android news is Android news. And it doesn’t matter what it is pertaining to. So the news that Flurry has estimated a quarter million Droid phones made there way to consumers the first week….really made my day. In my opinion I think Android is the best OS period. And as stated before it seems it is perfect for everything and not just phones.

Gizmodo says Android will rule the world

Well….back to blogging. My internet has been down for a few days folks. If anyone even noticed….haha . Anyway, I read a very interesting article on Gizmodo (link) yesterday about Android and how the revolution has just begun. In the article it is explained where Android began, where it is today and where it is going. Basically what we will see is Android on everything from notebooks.

and set top boxes and even picture frames (which I couldn’t find pictures of).

I am seriously excited to see where Android is going and I am still happy I am an early adopter to the phenomenon. I pre ordered the G1 and I am now a happy owner of the Mytouch

Second Verizon Droid commercial

In case you haven’t seen it yet. I bring you the second commercial for the Verizon Droid phone. By comparison this one is ten times better than the first. I think it really brings more excitement to the Android platform. The video was released online a few days ago and now is playing on tv. I have seen it on the air last night.

Download Droid Explorer…ADB made easy

Ok well as you can see from this blog I recently moved from a G1 to a MyTouch. Not because I didn’t like the G1. I just needed another smartphone. So of course another Android phone was a given. I did find some things very different on the MyTouch than I was used to on the G1. The biggest thing of course is the lack of keyboard. I was wondering how I was going to type the needed commands in console in the recovery image with now keyboard. So, it seems to type the commands in console on the Mytouch you need to use ADB. Not a problem for me since I already had it setup, but for some it could be challenging. I have a very easy way for you to set up ADB without downloading the whole SDK. And you will be installing a program that I highly recommend. It is called Droid Explorer and it can be found here.

Basically it is like Windows Explorer for your phone. The best part about it is that the installer downloads the needed files for ADB. Since it uses ADB for the file browsing. Just let the installer download the needed files. After it is downloaded, run the program with you phone plugged in to make sure all is working. You might have to click on Connect to connect to your phone.

After all is working, go to Tools>Plugins>Console. And BAM.…there’s your adb. So when the MyTouch is in recovery, just type UTILITY in your command shell to get to the BART tools. This of course lets you do a full nandroid backup and restore that includes all your apps.

Oh yeah you can use Package Manager from Droid Explorer as well as take screenshots from your phone. This program also will associate itself with your APK files on your pc. So with your phone hooked up, just double click on an APK file and it will install (or uninstall).

Verizon Droid said to cost $199 on 6th

The new Android version has alot of new features. Better web browsing, new Google Maps, better virtual keyboard…and more. Of course you can read more about it and watch a video here, another post on Androidguys

Took the Plunge…upgraded plans and got a Mytouch

Ok well I decided yesterday with much consideration to upgrade to one of the new T-Mobile plans. I went for the Even More Plus plan that included unlimited everything for multiple lines. I got two lines, so to take full advantage of that I went ahead and ordered a Mytouch. I will still have the G1 but it will now “belong” to my wife. I will be getting the Mytouch today. I know as soon as I get it I will have it rooted and have a backup restored to match my G1. Not sure if I will like it or not ,but I will post with my opinion. Might be weird for a man but I am getting the Merlot color. Mainly because they were out of black and I sure didn’t want white. This should be fun.

Added noop I/O scheduler for sdcard. Greatly increases performance

Autorotate
Graphics benchmarks on Blur ROMs in general aren’t that good. So I consider this to be something that needs to be improved on. It’s being looked into. Things you’ll notice are slow swiping between Launcher screens, messaging widget is slow

Well folks. You may ask yourself, what if I want the whole Blur rom look. But want everything on your phone fully working. Introducing Jesterblur. It is essentially a Hero rom made to look and work like a Blur rom. Here are the Pros and Cons compared to the actual Blur rom.

[Rom] twistedumbrella’s Motorola Blur rom 1.1

Well it looks like we have a fully functional Motorola Blur rom by Twistedumbrella. So far I like what I see. It is very fast and stable. One of the coolest featues of Blur is that once you set up an account, they backup your stuff. What I mean is that Motorola actually backs up your contacts, icons and settings. You could completely format your phone and install other roms. Once you come back to Blur, your phone would be the way you left it. This is used of course for actual blur owners who may get replacement phones or if their phone gets lost/stolen. All your info will be on the new phone. Another thing I enjoy is the Happenings widget. This tightly integrates your phone to pretty much any social network you need.

Here are some things that are not working just yet in this rom

- Bluetooth not working
- LEDs only work on charge
- No vibration
- GPS broken
-Wifi not working
